Washington Monument

The Washington Monument is an obelisk located in Washington DC. It is an epitome of beauty and amazement made of granite, marble, and sandstone. It is the tallest stone structure in the world and the tallest obelisk attracting tourists from all across the world along with the locals. The construction was started in 1848 and was not completed till the year 1884 due to shortage of funds and American Civil War. However, the monument was completed in 1885 and officially opened in 1889. It was the tallest structure in the world but lost its designation after the construction of Eiffel Tower in Paris.
