A Quick History:
The Glen Echo Park was funded in 1891 as part of the National Chautauqua Assembly. By the 1900, it transformed into a top amusement park to the locales of Maryland. By the year 1971 the National Park Service took over the location and created an arts program on the tradition of the Chautauqua movement. Glen Echo Park is now maintained by the Glen Echo Park Partnership for Arts and Culture, Inc.

National Park Service Ranger-Led Tours:
Aside from the cultural presentations and historical exhibits of Glen Echo Park, you can also join the Carousel Tours that will take you to the breathtaking Dentzel carousel which was built way back in 1921. The tour will take about 30 half an hour.
You can also join the guided park tours every weekend at 2 pm. The designated park ranger will take you to the various key locations on the park. The tour will take you to its arts and dance programs, art studios and the other special areas of the park including the Crystal Pool and the Spanish Ballroom.
