The nearest airport to the country's capital is the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Just 5 kms off Wasington, D.C, the airport was known as the Washington National Airport. In 1998 it was decided to rename the facility as the the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in honor of the former President. In common parlance the airport is called either National, Reagan, Washington National or even Reagan National.

The largest carrier of the airport is the US Airways. They offer shuttle services to LaGuardia Airport and Logan International Airport in New York City and Boston respectively from the Ronald Reagan Washington Nation Airport.
