The Supreme Court of The United States of America is the apex judicial body and is the highest governing body of the federal judiciary system.

The Supreme Court comprises of the Chief Justice of the United States. The Chief Justice presides over a team of eight other Associate Justices. The active case hearing processes of the Supreme Court of the United States of America are limited to a specific few in every year.

The Supreme Court of the United States of America offers its justices a lifelong tenure once they have been chosen. The tenure is considered to end only if the justices retire, die during office, resign before term or are impeached on the basis of proven misdemeanor.

The building is open to public from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm all round the year from Monday to Friday. When the court has its sessions, it is not opened to the general public. Visitors have to go through a metal detector test and a baggage X-ray by the court authority.

They are allowed to participate in wide-range of informative programs, see the various exhibits and documentaries on the Supreme Court. When the court is not in session, tourists are allowed to attend one of the hourly-lectures that take place in the Courtroom.

When you plan to visit the US Supreme Court, always check out the Court's website for official visiting dates and rules. A number of entry tickets are available for visitors. The courtroom has a capacity of over 250 visitors. Based on the tickets, they can sit through the level of judgment. Visitors are expected to maintain silence inside the courtroom.
