Managed by the Smithsonian Institution National Art Gallery is an art gallery in Washington D.C., is a collections of images on famous individual Americans. The museum portrays the art and culture of the Americans through visual arts, performing arts and new media. Portraits of people who are placed here are poets and presidents, visionaries and villains, and actors and activists whose lives mark the history of America.

The gallery is situated in the Donald. W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture, the building was constructed somewhere in the 1830s and 1860s, the museum had marbles and granite porticos modeled after Parthenon style of the Athens, Greece.

The building underwent major renovation and expansion in early 2000 and was reopened only in middle of 2006. The renovated museum now is designed a new, glass enclosed courtyard by Norman Foster. There are two museums inside Lunder Conservation Center and Luce Foundation Center for American Art.

The museum has dining options after spending the day for lunch or evening dinner with an American menu in the Courtyard Cafe at the Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard.
