It's not difficult to find that there are designated areas for large group camping as well as smaller sized family camping. Among the 136 sites, 54 sites are equipped with electrical hookups. Each site will provide its tenants with a grill combo, picnic table and some parking space. Some other amenities available at Lake Fairfax Park campgrounds include bathhouse with sinks, hot showers, portable water spigots, flushing toilets as well as the fee required dump station with sanitary rinse-out. Family Camping
A maximum of 7 people and 2 tents is allowed on each family camping site. Otherwise, you'll be asked to book an additional camping site. There are three types of tents available for family camping: non-electric tent, pop-up tent (20/30 amp) and fold-down trailer tent (20/30/50 amp). The stand prices for non-electric tent, pop-up tent and trailer tent are respectively $28, $37 and $45. Discounted rates at $18, $24 and $29 are available to seniors (age 65 or older) and Fairfax County Residents. For seniors who are not Fairfax County Resident, the prices can be respectively $23, $30 and $36.
Group camping areas G-2 through G-8 are available for family camping as well from Memorial Day to Labor Day. No reservation is required. It's on a first come first served basis.

Group Camping
Group camping campgrounds can be classified into two areas based upon their size and needs: large group camping areas and small group camping area. There are eight areas designated for large group camping: G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, G-6, G-7, G-8 and G-9. They are available for group camping from March 1 through November 15 with reservations required. G-1 and G-9 are the largest areas which can allow a maximum of 100 people each. A group with up to 20 campers can be designated to large group camping areas. The camping fee is $120 for up to 20 members per night. They will charge an extra $6 for an additional camper.
For any group of up to 10 campers, they can be designated to small group camping area G-5. And they will charge an extra $6 for an additional camper.

Reservations are strongly recommended for all camping sites.
To make a reservation, you can call 703-471-5415. Or you can visit the office in person. Its opening hours are from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm April through October and 9:00 am to 6:00 pm November through March. The office will be closed on Christmas Day. Payment will be required at the time of reservation. Only Visa and MasterCard are accepted for phone reservations. If you call on in person, they will accept Visa, MasterCard, check as well as cash.
The maximum length of stay at Lake Fairfax Park campground is 14 consecutive nights from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and 28 consecutive nights from Labor Day to Memorial Day. Better to keep in mind:
1) Check-in time is from noon till the closure time of the office. Check-out time is 10:00 am every day.
2) According to Fairfax County Leash Laws, pets are allowed to the park yet must never be left unattended. Do remember to clean up all the wastes in time.
3) Lake Fairfax Park can be easily reached via Metrorail. Some close stops within walking distances to the park are West Falls Church stations, the Vienna and Dunn Loring.

5) It can be very hot and humid there in summer. Don't forget to wear sunblock and stay hydrated. Extreme weather in winter might lead to the paralysis of park roads. Be fully prepared of all kinds of weather changes.
