L'Enfant Plaza ends at Benjamin Banneker Park. This park was the first public place in Washington which has been dedicated to an African-American. This spot was first kept for building John F. Kennedy Center of the Performing Arts. But there were some financial problems with the main project developer. And thus Kennedy's project had to find some other location.
