Washington DC is also a tourist's pleasure. There is so much to see, enjoy and learn in the city that you will want to keep coming back to it again.
Among the many federal structures in the city is the small but equally celebrated Dumbarton House. Completed in 1800, it first housed the first Register of the Treasury, Joseph Nurse. Since 1932, however, it was open to the public.
Some buildings have combined the traditional architecture with modern upkeep. The Dumbarton House is one such structure.
The House is closely linked to the federal history and architecture of the country. The Dumbarton House sits on around 4.5 acres and is the only brick house with state importance now in the capital.
The ownership of the house changed three hands before the National Society of the Colonial Domes of America bought it in 1928. They also changed its name from Cedar Hill to Dumbarton House.

The House is also a museum, showcasing many artefacts dating back to the federal state, numbering to more than a thousand pieces.
There are furniture pieces, clothes, silver, glassware, ceramic and paintings. The items depict not only the times but also the lifestyle of the elite in the federal era.
The house is open throughout the year. However, entry is possible only on some days of the week, which can be found on the web site.
