The bronze memorial weighed about 4 tons was unveiled on 22nd April, 1979 in honor of centenary of Albert Einstein's birth. Albert Einstein's statue was designed by Robert Berks, a sculptor who is better known for portrait busts of John F Kennedy at Kennedy Center. While the memorial landscaping was designed by landscape architect, James A Van Sweden. To support this gigantic sculpture three caissons weighing totally of 135 tons were sunk into bed rock to depths of 23 - 25 feet.
