In Washington you can find several theater's, but the most famous and historic theater is the Ford's Theatre in Washington D.C. It is also the site of the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. Later this theatre was used as an office building and a warehouse, and has been renovated time by time. The theater and the Petersen House are preserved together as Ford's Theatre National Historic Site. This site is also known as "Ford's Theatre and the Petersen House where Lincoln Died".
Ford's Theatre National Historic Site is opened from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entry into the Museum, Theatre, and Petersen House is free, but a ticket is required. On certain occasions like matinee performances, rehearsals and set load-ins, the visitors are not allowed to make an entry in Ford's Theatre as it is a working professional theatre.

This theater is used for presenting musicals and plays. There is the Ford's Theater Museum beneath the theater which contains portions of the Olroyd Collection of Lincolniana. In the museum you can find items related to Lincoln's assassination, including Booth's diary, the Derringer pistol used for shooting Lincoln, and the original door to Lincoln's theatre box, the blood-stained pillow from the president's deathbed, Lincoln's coat, large portraits of the president, and some statues of Lincoln.
The Petersen House was constructed by William A. Petersen. It is a three-story building constructed with plain red bricks and is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m (except December 25) and is operated by the National Park Service. President Lincoln was carried to the house, after shooting. In this House visitors can know about that fateful night.
