The Washington DC National Zoo timings change according to the seasons. During the November to March term the zoo is open for visiting during 6:00 a.m. and 6 p.m. From the April to October period the zoo is kept open till 8:00 p. With food and drink stalls and kiosks spread out through the campus, the zoo is tourist friendly.

Spread over a land area of 163 acres the zoo boasts of a wide variety of animal life. As many as 5000 animals find their home in this institution and it has been found that out of these around 500 species qualify as rare and some are even close to endangered status. From Asian elephants, sea lions and tigers to gorillas, flamingos and giant pandas, the zoo has a diverse and exciting wildlife.
