Dumbarton Oaks is a Federal-style mansion located in Georgetown, purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Robert Woods Bliss. It currently houses the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection, a center for Pre-Columbian studies through fellowships, scholarship in Byzantine studies, exhibitions, meetings, publications and the history of garden and landscape architecture. Dumbarton Oaks welcomes the public to visit its museum, garden, and music room, and the scholars to consult its books, object, and images for concerts and lectures.

The gardens are open daily from 2-6 p.m, except on Mondays from March 15th to October 31st. The entry fee for the gardens is $ 8.00 for general admission, $5.00 for senior citizens (ages 60 +), students, and children (ages 2-12). Free admission is given to faculty, staff and students of Harvard. The gardens are closed during federal holidays and inclement weather. During the winter season the gardens are open from 2-5 p.m, except on Mondays from November 1st to March 14th.There is no entry fee to the museum and the museum is closed on federal holidays.
The gardens include the Green Garden, Star Garden, formal Rose Garden, Pebble Terrace, Fountain Terrace, Urn Terrace, Beech Terrace, Arbor Terrace, and Lover's Lane Pool, as well as Cherry Hill, Fairview Hill, Forsythia Hill, Crabapple Hill, Prunus Walk, and a Camellia Circle. All the gardens are open to the public for a fee.
The historic music room permanently exhibits the European masterpieces along with the two specialized collections of Pre-Columbian and Byzantine art. They also exhibit paintings, drawings, digital models, and photographs of Pre-Columbian monuments.
