The oldest and largest non-federal art museum privately supported cultural institution in Washington, DC is the Corcoran Gallery of Art. This gallery was founded by William Wilson Corcoran in 1869. The main focus of the gallery is American art, along with the art of other countries. Among the permanent collection includes works by Chryssa Vardea Mavromichali, Paul Manship, Edgar Degas, Eugene Delacroix, Ian Hornak, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Rembrandt, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and many others. This museum presents and preserves the art of our times and of times past. There are always several exhibitions conducted.
