Located in the Montgomery County in Maryland, Takoma Park is a suburb of Washington D.C. and also part of the Washington Metropolitan Area. This city was founded in 1883 and is better known as Azalea city which is also a nuclear-free zone and Tree-City USA. One of the important features of this city is it has been planned wonderfully.
The city is actually located along the Metropolitan Branch, which is just northeast of Washington. The city is governed by a Mayor and six council members. To look after the city they had created a city council and also appointed a city manager.
According to the 2000 census, the city had a population of 17,299. The boundary line of the District of Columbia divides the community. The Gilbert Tract falls under this community. The area is now known as Takoma, Washington DC.
