The Washington Ballet is a very popular center of performing arts in Washington DC that hosts some of the most well attended ballet shows and performances in the country. It was in 1944 that this center was founded by Mary Day, who was one of the greatest pioneers of American ballet. The Washington School of Ballet was then formalized into The Washington Ballet, which has gone on to become the most reputed professional companies of the art.
The Washington Ballet has seen performances by the greatest names in ballet, including William Forsythe, Mark Morris, Twyla Tharp, Christopher Wheeldon, and several others.
