Facts on Southeast Freeway in Washington, DC

Interstate 695 is a southeast freeway and numbered highway in Washington, DC which is 2.24km long. Basically the freeway starts from I-395 on southern side of US Capitol Building and terminates at Pennsylvania Avenue in Barney Circle. This freeway isn't marked but signed for destination including Pennsylvania Avenue, I-395 and I-295.

The planned part of freeway is completed till Pennsylvania Avenue that was built during 1960 and remaining part was cancelled as a result of opposition from residents. But there are talks held in favor of building southeast freeway that would help in growth of industries in and around the area.

The freeway was enlisted by Congress for New Urbanism as one in ten USA freeways under "Freeways without Future".
