Memorials built to commemorate US Presidents:
- The Washington Monument is located in the National Mall. It was built to commemorate the first U.S. president, General George Washington. It is both the world's tallest stone structure and the tallest obelisk at the towering height of 555 feet 5⅛ inches.
- Lincoln Memorial was built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is also in the National Mall.
- The Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial is a presidential memorial dedicated to the memory of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Memorials for Americans who served in different wars:
- The U.S. National World War II Memorial is a National Memorial dedicated to Americans who served in the armed forces and as civilians during World War II. It is also situated in the National Mall area at the eastern end of the Reflecting Pool, between the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument.
- The Korean War Veterans Memorial is located in Washington, D.C.'s West Potomac Park. It commemorates those who served in the Korean War.
- The District of Columbia War Memorial commemorates the citizens of the District of Columbia who served in World War I.
