The tax authorities of Washington, DC taxes the residents of the district as per the following tax brackets -

For first $10,000 income that is taxable - 4 percent

For taxable income lying in the range of $10,001 to $40,000 - 6 percent

For taxable income of $40,001 and more - 8.5 percent

The residents of District of Columbia have to file the tax returns maximum by 15th of April. The homeowners and renters having less than $20,000 as income are eligible to avail of the tax credit.
