
What is the history of the official code of Washington DC
Since the City of Washington was formally established in 1800 combining parts of Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, there were a set of many codes running the city. Plus it had been a British colony so the statutes of the British Parliament were applicable to it as they were to all the British colonies around the world.
The last British statute, applicable to the District of Columbia was passed in the year 1770. Efforts were continuously made to reach a common code and that was finally achieved in1901. For complete history of DC code go to
